T-Minus 28 Days

Wow, I'm only 28 days away from my first "Photo 365" project being completed.  Which, is really bad because I'm only up to posting photo 265.  What does that mean? Well, a few things actually.  First, I need to post approximately 4 photos every day if I am to make it.  Second, since I am posting to many photos over the next month, I'm going to have to cut back on the "stories" that normally go along with them.  Third, well... I don't really have a "third" thing, except for: if you are following my posts on Facebook or my Tweets on twitter, be prepared for a bit of a "spam'ing" of post from me for the next few weeks.

This is like a contest inside of a contest!  Woo!

Enjoy!

T-Minus 165 Photos - A little look back.

I just recently posted my 250th photo (although I know I should be near my 300th, but that's life - I'm catching up tho!), and I have to say, its been a pretty crazy 250 photos so far.  I'm heading into the "final stretch" of this project and I'm pretty confident that I'm going to be doing it again.  Just because I'm analytical-type personality and I love numbers, here are some neat little stat's since I've started.

600+ Twitter posts
6,300+ Blog Views from all over the world
11,000+ AntTree.org website views
20,000+! Unique Flickr views

I'm pretty darn happy with those numbers.  It means there are at least a few folks out there who are actually looking at my photos and reading my internet blather!  Woo!  Go blather!

Anyway, thanks everyone and I hope you enjoy the remainder of this project!

Digital Archive Project - Done!

Wow, I finally finished my first real photo archiving job.  I was asked to archive a couple hundred old photos and negatives from the 1950s-1980's.  It included old family photos, school photos, birth records, old school paperwork, other family documents and crazy-old negatives!  The negatives were "tricky" and took days to complete.  They were old 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" (aka: medium format) negatives!  My mission was to scan all the items, both in an archival format (TIFF, 50-100MB per file) and display format (JPG - 1-7MB per file), and then organize them all onto DVDs.  I got to use a lot of new and old skills, including: photo stitching, multi-format editing, color corrections, creating archival DVDs, DVD packaging, and DVD labeling.

It was both intense and exciting!  I'm looking forward to doing more archival-based work (as well as getting photography in now that I'm done with this project!).

Free Matted Photos!

Hello Everyone,

I recently decided to work on this whole “photography” thing a bit more and got a new mat-board cutter (full size – 32x40 inch) and new high-end medium format (13x19) photo printer.  Now, while I have these lovely new toys, it means that I need learn how to use them!  And in this learning, I’ve realized I need your help!  For a limited (very limited) time, I am going to give away some prints.  I will print out any of my photos, either from the AntTree Blog, the gallery on the AntTree.org website or my AntTree Flickr site, and mount them (with mat-board and 3/16th acid-free foam core – no actual picture frame).  If you are local, we can meet up and I’ll hand-deliver it to you (or you are welcome to come over and pick it up!).  If you would like me to mail it to you, not a problem, you just need to pay for the shipping.

When I say “limited time”, I mean this offer will end as soon as I feel comfortable using both the mat cutter and new printer.  Please note, I’m not going to give out any “errors” or misprints – you will get only “Theresa and Anthony Approved” photos that will be suitable for framing and hanging.

If you are interested, please EMAIL me which photo you would like and what sizes you would prefer (either 8x10 or 11x14).  Please, one photo per person.

I've been released from Carbonite!

Wow, I didn't realize how long its been since I've made a post!  For those of you who though I was abducted by alien waffles, fear not, for I have in fact, NOT been abducted by any pastry goods! (Besides, I never leave my house without defensive syrup, for just such an occasion).

Basically, I've been a busy bee these last few weeks trying to get some non-blog related stuff done.  First, I've updated the official website (www.anttree.org), now with 347% more snazzy!  The problem with updating the site was, I had no idea HOW to update the site.  We are good now.  Second, I'm nearly done (really) editing all of my wedding photos!  Yes, I know we were married over 9 years ago.  Yes, I know I said I'd have them done in a few weeks... 9 years ago.  But, to be honest, we had a LOT of photos.  No, I mean, a lot.  More than that.  Even more.  I believe we had about 20,000 photos that I had to sort through and organize (btw: all of our friends who took photos for us, you all rock and I'm blaming you that I'm so late).  Third, me and the camera had a bit of a "spat", but we got counseling and are now back together!

What this means is, I'm about to attack everyone with a horde of photos so I can catch back up (Really!  This isn't like the 'Wedding Photo' thing!  Honest!).

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Let the photo-spam begin!

Photo 365 - Day Bleach!

Well, as I'm sure you've all noticed, I haven't posted any photos this last week.  This was due to me being crazy-sick and barely able to leave bed/focus my eyes.  Happily, I am starting to feel better and I will be catching up with my missed photos asap!  My only advice to others is, make sure you read the little "side-effect" booklet with any new meds!  Wow, was that just not fun.

I hope everyone had a great week and photo's will be popping up again soon (like, within the next hour)!

Enjoy your weekend!

Crazy Day

Its been a crazy long day (its 1am, and I'm not even started with uploading photos yet!  Blargh!), so there will be a slight delay in my daily photo.  I'll make sure to post two tomorrow... err... today.  Have a good night and go Giants (they won game two of the World Series, 9-0!)

Sleep well!
