Day 240 (February 28th, 2011)
Title: Leyline
One of the fun things about taking picture that, when originally viewed as "plain" or "boring" is that with a little creative 'playing', you can really make them something completely different. While at a local park, I looked up and saw the contrail of a plane that had recently flown by starting to disperse. I thought; "Hey, it looks like someone put a rip in the sky." Which, of course, started an immediate discussion about Star Trek and "rips in the time/space continuum". It occurred to my Geek-infested brain, that a lot of genres use such things, normally called Leyline, as a cosmic force of magic and/or powers. In Star Trek, it was something that could rend the entire universe apart, in many fantasy worlds, they are the source of all magic, and in horror-type worlds, they are gateways for demons and evil to come visit and say "hi!". I'm hoping this one was more of a friendly "butterflies-slightly-annoy-you" variety.
And no, not huge demon-butterflies either. I know some of you were thinking it!
Enjoy

Photo 365 - Day 132 (Geek #1)
Day 132 (November 11th, 2010)
Title: Geek #1
You've all be patiently waiting, but the wait is finally over! Its time for Name That Thing 2! This whole week I'll be showing macro pictures of things based on a single subject, and you get to try and name them! For Name That Thing 2, the subject is going to be: Computers (aka "Geek Week").
I'm starting this Name That Thing with a "Geek Level 1" photo, that I think most folks should be able to get. If you can't, its okay, you'll have more chances tomorrow!
Enjoy!

Photo 365 - Day 119 (Sarlacc Bloom)
Day 119 (October 30th, 2010)
Title: Sarlacc Bloom
Okay, with this picture I truly show off my geekness meets artist! As soon as I saw this flower, the first thing that I thought of was the Sarlacc from Return of the Jedi (its the pit Jabba the Hutt is trying to toss Han and Luke into - that sadly eats Boba Fett). In the background (yes, my geek powers are so strong, I know some Star Wars background!), the Sarlacc grows from spores in space (Ooo, good name for a cover-band: Spores In Space!). I was thinking, what if before becoming some giant space worm/leech thingy that eats cool bad guys, that is started as some sort of flower. I'm thinking Star Wars meets Little Shop of Horrors.
"Feed me Darth Seymour!"
Enjoy!

Photo 365 - Day 023 (Veins of Greens and Bonus!)
Day 23 (July 26th, 2010)
Title: Veins of Collards
This is an homage to my fellow photo 365 friend, Mike, who's frequent shots of nature and plants continuously impress me. Tonight we decided to make a hugenormous pot of stew, including collard greens. A few of the greens were, ironically, really green. I took quite a few shots of the leaves, from 50mm to 100mm to macro. As is my standard M.O., I chose one of the macro shots (100mm), but if you want to see some of the other shots I've posted them to Flickr. Enjoy!
BONUS Photo!
We went to the movies and I saw this display in the entryway and just about wet myself! I instantly transported back to 1982 and remembered how "high-tech" the movie was. You can't tell me you wouldn't want to have a light-cycle... or, better yet, a light-tank! Lets just say, I'm looking forward to Dec 2010!
