Photo 365 - Day 190 (Monticello)
Day 190 (January 9th, 2011)
Title: Monticello
Well, my week of Coin Smartification has come to a end. I hope for those of you non-coin folks, that I was able to share something new and/or interesting about coin for you. I have many hobbies and I love learning about new things all the time and sometimes feel my brain is full of nothing but random information that while helpful on "Bar Trivia Night" isn't exactly critical knowledge. So, I thought I would share with you some of my random thoughts on coins. I'm sure I'll come up with another series of photos that will explore some other random cache of my thoughts and when I get to the week on Norwegian Yak Heading, it's going to be a party!
This closing coin photo is a close of of the reverse (back) of a 2010-S nickel, showing Monticello, the main residence of Thomas Jefferson. He wrote something famous once...
Enjoy

State of the Blog Report
Hello everyone,
I know its been a few weeks since my last post, but there's been a few issues that have been going on that have kept me away from the blogasphere. Firstly, I have been ill for a good portion of the time (both cold/flu sick and severe back pain), but I am feeling better, so that's a good thing! Second, lots of "drama" with the holidays, family, and the like. But, the holidays are winding down so again, that's a good thing! Third, I was having a bit of a 'art block' on what to photograph and was generally not very pleased with my own work. Now, this one is a bit trickier to fix, but I'm trying to work some issues out, and photos will be coming!
In the next couple of days, I am going to post a lot of photos to try and catch up with the 3 weeks I missed. Be aware that some of them won't have as much "commentary" as normal, but just know that's a temporary situation as I catch up, and soon my ramblings will be back!
Third, as this is the start of a new year, I wanted to do another "Daily" thing. I'm going to do a little "Artist of the Day" blurb with an artist that either a) has influenced me, b) who's work I really enjoy, c) is just someone I think others should know about. I don't really have any specific criteria for these artist (I've got painters, photographers, sculptors, poets, writers, and more on my list). I just think it will be fun to share with you some of the art that I enjoy.
So, in closing, this blog is still going - its was just taking a little 'winter nap' and new things will be coming soon!
Enjoy!

Photo 365 - Day 105 (Steel Frog)
Day 105 (October 16th, 2010)
Title: Steel Frog
Score this one as another totally random thing I see that just screamed "take a picture of me!" This is a strange, but darn nifty, old hanging steel "thing". Perhaps it was a planter or wind chime at some point. But now, its just thing old frog-looking thing hanging on a spring. It makes little 'jumps' when the wind hits it and it seems like many generations of spiders have called it home (the cobwebs have cobwebs!). It has these old glass marbles for eyes and the green paint is chipping and faded. Even with all of those "character elements", it still called out to be photographed. And who am I to say no to a steel frog.
Enjoy
